How to Plant your Trees
Dig the hole (twice the width)
1
Dig a hole that is roughly twice the width and a similar depth to your pot/bag.
Plant & Backfill (50/50)
2
Plant your tree and backfill with 50% existing soil and 50% soil improver (this will be the Soil builder or Native Concentrate if using our Tree Soil Kit). Make sure the soils are mixed together rather than layered.
Fertilise and water in thoroughly
3
Apply a fertiliser (this will be Seasol if using our Tree soil kits) and water in thoroughly. Think a long soak rather than a standard water.
Mulch (thickly)
4
Once planted, apply a thick later of Mulch (50-100mm) around the base of the tree. Leaving a small gap around the trunk.
After care
Newly planted trees require a lot of water in order to establish properly and avoid going into ‘shock’. Watering needs will change depending on the season.
View the Water Corporation website below to check how frequently you should be watering during the relevant season. You can also apply for a ‘Water exemption’ if needed.
